The Arlington Career Center, Claremont Immersion School and Discovery Elementary School were honored with Green Action Awards at last night’s School Board Meeting by the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability
The three schools received the award for the following projects:
- The Arlington Career Center’s installation of a hybrid photovoltaic/thermal solar system on a residence in Washington D.C.,
- Claremont Immersion School’s Green Kids Project to promote an idle-free zone, and
- Discovery Elementary School’s sustainable transportation initiatives.
The recognition by the committee is their version to prepare schools to qualify for the larger Green Ribbon Schools award Green Action Award which promotes best practices in sustainability and is aligned with the frameworks of the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools Program and Eco-Schools USA.
