COUNSELING AT BARRETT
Welcome to Barrett Elementary!

Barrett's Counseling Program is facilitated by Stephanie Shaefer, Counselor, L.P.C, Licensed Professional Counselor with a Specialty in Marriage, Child and Family Counseling.

Ms. Shaefer works very closely with Barrett's Family and Parent Involvement Coordinators, our School Nurse and Clinic Manager, our School Social Worker and Psychologist (who are both here one-two days per week and are on call), as well as with all teachers, staff, students and parents. Ms. Shaefer is at Barrett Mondays through Fridays and is also able to schedule evening hours as needed.

Ms. Shaefer spends most of her time providing direct and indirect services to our students. She meets with them individually, in small groups, and in classroom counseling activities, either in her office, classrooms, or during lunch, playground recess, before or after school, including in our extended day program. Referrrals are made by students themselves, teachers, parents, and support staff. She also consults with parents, teachers, support staff and oftentimes facilitates meetings with representatives of all these groups in order to plan the best possible program for your children.
