4th Grade

Team Photo
Mr. Porter (4th Grade Classroom Teacher)
My name is Zach Porter and I’m excited to be teaching 4th grade! I grew up in Arlington (I went to McKinley, Swanson, and Yorktown) and am proud to be working and living in the county that helped raise me. I went to Denison University and received my Bachelor’s in History. After college, I worked as a Manager of Communications at a non-profit in DC for a few years, before turning to graduate school to get my Masters of Elementary Education and from Marymount University. I’ve been at KW Barrett since January of 2012, when I taught 5th grade. I then taught 2nd grade for 3 years and am now happy to be teaching 4th.  I love hiking with my wife Rachel and my dog Brady, reading, kayaking, and playing with my baby girl, Ramona. I am looking forward to another fantastic year!

Ms. Crain (4th Grade Special Education Teacher, Co-teaches with Ms. Manley)
Hi! My name is Abby Crain, and I am the fourth grade special education teacher at Barrett. I graduated from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY with my Bachelor's in English Literature and a quad-teaching certification in Inclusive Education. I grew up in Syracuse, NY, and moved to Northern Virginia after I graduated from undergrad. I just completed my graduate program at Georgetown University in May of 2015, where I received my master's in literature. I ran cross country all throughout high school and college and still run marathons for fun. I also love hanging out with my baby nephew, Henry, swimming, reading every night, and watching SU basketball (Go Orange)! I am excited and looking forward to another great year in fourth grade!
Ms. Manley (4th Grade Classroom Teacher, Co-teaches with Ms. Crain)
Hello!  My name is Jennifer Manley and I am a fourth grade classroom teacher at Barrett Elementary.  I graduated from Shippensburg University in 2011 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with minors in Math and Psychology.  I moved to Northern Virginia after spending my first 23 years in the Philadelphia area.  I love cheese steaks (but only ones from Philadelphia), the Eagles, Flyers and Phillies.  I am passionate about creating a classroom of readers.  I am working on a master's in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason with a Reading Specialist Certification.  I look forward to a fun and productive year filled with exploration and learning!
Ms. Cassedy (4th and 5th Grade ESOL-HILT Teacher)
My name is Erin Cassedy, and I am the ESOL/HILT teacher for 4th and 5th grade.  I received my B.A. from Calvin College and my M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Azusa Pacific University.   Before moving to Barrett, I taught in Alexandria, my home state of Wisconsin, Hong Kong and China.  I also spent 2 summers (2013 and 2015) volunteering with an English teaching program in Mongolia.  I love to travel with my husband, cook, and visit my family in Wisconsin as much as possible.
Ms. Sensibaugh (4th Grade Classroom Teacher)

Hello! My name is Erin Sensibaugh and I am a fourth grade classroom teacher at Barrett Elementary. I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia and am lucky to have my family all close by still. I graduated from The University of South Carolina in 2010 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and I am currently working on my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I taught in Fairfax County in the Tyson’s Corner area the past five years. The first three years I spent teaching first grade and then moved to fourth grade for the past two years. I enjoy traveling, baking, and spending time outside with my dog Petey. I am really looking forward to a great year at Barrett in the fourth grade!
