Math Lead Teacher
Students at Drew Model School learn mathematics in all different ways!  At Drew, students build their number sense and problem solving skills through a number of varied curriculum materials.  In our Graded Program, students use the Math Expressions series, a K-5 mathematics program, that encourages children's natural solution methods and the use of effective and efficient procedures.  Teachers also incorporate the use of discourse to allow students to deepen their understandings through rich talk about math.  In addition to Math Expressions, teachers use the Every Day Counts calendar math program which allows students to build on known concepts each day.  It will touch on many different strands, such as computation/estimation and geometry/measurement.  In our Montessori program, the math materials aid students in building a deep understanding of number sense and place value.
